Parental advice...

I WOULD NOT SAY BY ANY MEANS I AM FREAKING OUT...BUT I AM A BIT CONCERNED ABOUT HOW I AM GOING TO FAIR AS A NEW DAD. I HAVE NOT CHANGED HARDLY ANY DIAPERS IN MY LIFE SANS THE TIMES JOSH GOT WELL SEASONED AT THE BARS IN SAVANNAH AND CAME HOME IN DESPERATE NEED OF A NEW PAIR OF TROUSERS. I HAVE NEVER WARMED A BOTTLE, NEVER GIVEN ANOTHER HUMAN BEING A BATH...WELL UNLESS THE JOSH THING COUNTS...AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO SQUEEZE MILK FROM MY BREAST! I AM CURRENTLY READING UP ON THESE THINGS AND HAVE BEEN ASSURED BY MANY A FOLK THAT ONCE THE TIME COMES, INSTINCT WILL KICK IN...AND THAT I REALLY DO BELIEVE, BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING IF YOU OUT THERE HAVE ANY ADVICE ON BECOMING A NEW PARENT (NOT YOU MOM, WE ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU THINK)

i got some advice. don't warm the bottle. they don't have to take it warm. if you start it warm they'll want to continue it warm. if you start it room temperature they'll never know. makes it a hell of a lot easier when it comes feeding time.

also, start them out on light, filtered cigarettes. save the black & milds and pall malls until they're at least 3.

also, don't believe any of that shit about keeping them in the house for the first few weeks. get them out of the house as soon as possible and they'll quickly learn to enjoy going places and also it'll boost their immune system.

also, don't try to eat their fingers. they're too sinewy.

you will do fine - Bert was in the boat before our little guy came along. Bert does everything now except give him baths.
I agree: Room Temp bottle. We use jugged water (you know this lee co water has too much lime in it) and mix the bottles as needed. In the event that she goes back to sleep before you get the bottle ready (it happens) put it in fridge then warm in under hot tap.
you are going to do well - you just don't know it yet! :)Once she gets here, everything will fall into place!
Don't pinch toes - there's no bones down there yet!!

Only believe Brad's first and third pieces of advice. We did both (had the Beans out in public within a week of birth) and he is doing GREAT!

You will need a lot of bibs, take-out menus, and accept ALL help offered. Even if they just want to come over and clean or fold your unders, all help will HELP!!

I was just telling another preggo girl yesterday to not be afraid to take your kid out into the world of germs. Candace will probably have a harder time with this than you, but it's good for them to get exposed. I was pushing mine through the most germ infested place (Wal-Mart) within a week of birth and they are just fine.

And if the whole breast feeding thing doesn't work out for you Sam, don't listen to the complaints of those who say it's best. It may be beneficial but M & E were both COMPLETELY formula fed and rarely get a cold.

Be thankful your first isn't a boy...Getting the whole diaper thing can be a challenge and with a boy you'd better close it fast or he'll shoot a stream of pee right in your eyes! That's why they make these Pee Pee Teepee's: http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?source=family&itemId=13271
